OPEN STRINGS
Aug. 26 - Greetings all.  Over the past few months, I've been compiling a set of studies/pieces that focus entirely on right hand (plucking hand) technique.  Music such as CARCASSI no.7, STUDY in A MINOR, or CARULLI'S ALLEGRO AGITATO present numerous technical difficulties for the guitarist and it can be overwhelming reading music while watching both hands.

The "open strings" studies isolate the plucking hand in these pieces.  "Open Strings" have all aspects of the music written in... minus the fretboard hand.  If you are familiar with CARCASSI no.7, STUDY in A MINOR, or CARULLI ALLEGRO AGITATO, I urge you to try one of these printable study sheets.  CLICK on the title "OPEN STRINGS" and follow the link.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.

June 18 - We are just one week away from the Bergen International Guitar Festival, where I will be  performances by Zoran Duki´c (June 24), Grammy Winner Scott Tennant (June 25), myself (June 26),  and The Norwegian Guitar Trio (June 27) with Lars Rosvoll.  It is a true honor to be performing alongside these incredible guitarists.  (www.bergengitarfestival.com).

I will be performing music by the man considered to be the greatest lutenist in history, Silvius Leopold Weiss, along with an eclectic program of Domeniconi (Italy), Mompou (Spain), Barrios (Paraguay) and Piazzolla (Argentina).  All concerts will take place in the historic Mariakirke in Bryggen.  Please come early because space is limited!

The 2007 Classical Minds Festival
may 29 - june 3

Feb. 1 - for the third time, I have been invited to perform and teach at the Classical Minds Festival in Houston, Texas, directed by my good friend Valerie Hartzell.

This year will be special for several reasons.  My long-time teacher/mentor and godfather to my son, Stephen Aron, will join me on stage to perform several movements from 12 Silly Songs for 12 Silly Strings co-authored by Rami Vamos and myself.  This will be the first time I perform these pieces in 8 years - this is Steve's first crack at them....  not to miss.

This festival will also honor Aaron Brock, an excellent guitarist and friend who passed away in summer, 2006.  He was a faculty member last year.  Andrew Zohn's wrote Ballade in Aaron's memory that I will premiere at the festival.

The 2007 roster includes none other than Andrew Zohn, Richard Todd, Stephen Aron, Valerie Hartzell, Beau Benson, Lucia and Valdemar, Kithara duo and Sabine Madriguera.  Students will get a chance to have several lessons with the instructor of their choice, attend lectures, play chamber music among other things.
